Copycat KFC Coleslaw

It is summer time and that means it is time for coleslaw.

Can you believe that the month of July is here, where did June go to? The end of the week people that live in the USA will be celebrating the 4th of July. This means there will be plenty of cookouts and picnics going on.

I was paging through my recipe box a few days ago and I came across this recipe copycat KFC coleslaw. I know that I got the recipe from my mom or sisters years ago, but I am not sure where they got it from.

It had been a while since I made it... and since it is the 4th of July time of year I decided to share it on my blog. Coleslaw is one of those side dishes that goes well with just about any meal, especially when grilling out. I love a good burger with coleslaw... yum... I can just about taste it now.

To be honest I haven't eaten KFC's coleslaw in a long time so I am not sure if it is going to be a true copycat recipe. But I do know one thing this is one heck of a delicious coleslaw. If you like a creamy based coleslaw you have to try this one, you won't regret that you did.

I was actually sad when we finished eating this coleslaw, I think that I could eat it every day and never tired of it. Oh well, I guess I will just have to make it again soon.

Copycat KFC Coleslaw
Ingredients:
1/4 cup oil
1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup salad dressing (I used Miracle Whip)
1/2 head of cabbage shredded
1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
Direction:
1. Shred cabbage and set aside.
2. Combine all of the ingredients (except the cabbage) in a medium bowl. With an electric mixer beat this dressing for 10 minutes on high.
3. Pour dressing over cabbage and mix well. Refrigerate until ready to eat.

  6. Oh yum! Coleslaw would have gone just right with that fried chicken I made. I made a corn salsa instead. Next time though, lookout, KFC coleslaw is one of my favorites:) Thanks for sharing, Dawn...
