A great summer treat
My sister found this recipe and gave copies to everyone in the family. I am not quite sure when it was, but I do know that it was when our kids were little, so it was quite a few years ago.
We thought it was so cool that we could make our own Orange Julius at home. They were served at parties and just when we had a craving for them. But then the kids started growing up and the Orange Julius faded into just a memory.
The other day I started thinking about these refreshing drinks and knew that our granddaughter would love them. She loves smoothies and I knew that this Orange Julius would bring a smile to her face.
So I went to my recipe file and pulled it out. I made it for a treat after dinner tonight and not only did the granddaughter enjoy it the adults did as well.
Copy Cat Orange Julius (Not sure where the recipe came from)
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cup orange juice
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup sugar
10 to 12 ice cubes
Directions:
Place all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.
When I was younger, and I'd venture to say it was probably back in the 70s I couldn't get enough of the Orange Julius. I remember a recipe going around and made it maybe just once. I think I enjoyed going there more than making it back then.
ReplyDeleteI'd forgotten about this delicious drink. I'm thrilled you've reminded me so I can duplicate it again at home - now that I prefer making dishes on my own. Thanks for sharing.
I remember the Orange Julius place in the mall well, I was a frequent visitor. What a great idea to make your own for your family.
ReplyDeleteI have to make one soon too! Delicious!
ReplyDeleteThey have a pina colada drink at Orange Julius that I LOOOOOVE! If I could duplicate that at home, I'd probably be drinking it way too much.
ReplyDeleteYup, this sure brings up old memories! These were hugely popular when I was in college. I need to go through my recipe box and pull out some old favorites, too :)
ReplyDeleteI have never had Orange Julius in my entire life! Now I feel cheated! LOL Looks easy to make, gotta try this one at home, I'm sure this will be a big hit with the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteWhoohoo! I love this!
